Pursuing Christ-like

leadership

4-week Summer program for young men

July 4 – July 29, 2022

Quest Alumni Age 14-17   |   Cost: $1,950

Location: Big Sandy, TX

The goal of Quest Advanced is to build on the foundation the young men received in Quest and help them begin to lead themselves. Quest Advanced staff teach the men how to study their Bibles, how to lead themselves well before they are called on to lead others, and how to work as a team. The schedule is designed to challenge the men through focused discipleship, courses, sports and recreation, and personal study to help them model Biblical manhood and leadership in a world that desperately needs it.

Disciplines for Success

The most important aspect of maturity is a young man’s walk with God, and Quest Advanced focuses on developing good habits for lifelong spiritual growth. In-depth teaching and practice in Bible study, journaling, and Scripture memory help equip the men with the necessary tools for a life of pursuing Christ-like leadership. Additional areas of focus in Quest Advanced are personal responsibility, time management, orderliness, humility, and working well as a team.

“The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve.”

– John Stott

“Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one, be without the strategy.”

– Norman Schwarzkopf

“Let me endeavor to lead you out of yourself:

let me invite you to look unto Jesus.”

– A. W. Tozer

Teamwork & Leadership

Quest Advanced focuses on building teamwork and leadership. Classes include apologetics, evangelism, team skills training, Bible study methods, and basic leadership. Hands-on skills courses—along with activities such as sports, hiking, canoeing, and rappelling—provide the men with practical scenarios to practice their teamwork and leadership skills.

Testimonials

Before I came to Quest Advanced, I didn’t really care about the Bible. I didn’t read it every day; it was just a thing that happened, if it ever happened. I went to church ’cause I was kind of forced to. I lived for myself… I had an attitude; I was immature. I knew it, and I didn’t really care. During Quest Advanced, I was completely changed… I went from not really caring about anything, to loving the Word of God and reading and studying it.

Jason, South Carolina – Student

Quest Advanced taught me the true meaning of leadership. Before I participated in Advanced, I was confused about being a leader. However, through the classes and challenges at Advanced, I learned that the best leaders are those who serve others. Consequently, I began to notice that my authorities in Advanced constantly worked for my benefit. Before I could reap the rewards of headship, I had to be willing to help my teammates, even if I had to scrub showers or take out the trash. Leadership is no longer perplexing because Quest Advanced completely changed my perspective.
